Southern Maine's Joy Picks Up Player of the Week Award
Player of the Week
Zach Joy-Southern Maine
Junior, Forward, Dover, N.H./Monarchs
The junior forward netted three goals in the Huskies two season
opening games against Saint Michael's and Norwich. Joy scored
two goals, including the game winner, in a 3-2 win over Saint
Michael's. He also had a power-play goal in the Huskies' 4-3
loss to Norwich.
Goalie of the Week
Andrew Peabody-Babson
Sophomore, Marblehead, Mass./St. Paul's School
Peabody played all 122 minutes in net for Babson this weekend,
going 1-1 with a shutout, a 1.48 goals against average, and a .951
save percentage. On Friday night, he recorded his fourth career
shutout with 29 saves in a 2-0 victory over Colby. Then on
Saturday, he stopped 29 more shots while going the distance in a
3-2 overtime loss to Bowdoin.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Mike Richard-Saint Anselm
Forward, Derry, N.H./New England Huskies
Richard scored two goals and added an assist in his first two
career games. He scored the Hawks' first goal of the season
and then assisted the game-winner. The next night, he scored the
Hawks' first goal of the game once again.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Zach Menard-Skidmore
Defense, Burlington, Mass./N.H. Monarchs
Defenseman scored three power-play goals and had two assists in
Skidmore's 2-0 opening week. Had a goal and an assist in 8-6
win over defending East regular-season champion New England College
and two goals and an assist in a 6-2 win against St. Anselm.
Honor Roll
Scott Schroeder- Norwich
Freshman, Forward, Drake, Saskatchewan/Humboldt Broncos,
SJHL
Schroeder scored his first career goal in Norwich's 4-2 win at
University of New England on Friday night. He then added his second
goal in the Cadets' 4-3 victory at Southern Maine on Saturday
afternoon.
Brady Earle-Saint Michael's
Sophomore, Columbia, Md./The Gunnery School
Earle recorded the first Purple Knights goal of the season and
followed up with two assists in Saint Michael's 4-0 win on Saturday
against the University of New England. He is currently tied in
first on the team for points.
Reave MacKinnon-Saint Michael's
Sophomore, Winnipeg, Manitoba/Winnipeg Saints, MJHL
MacKinnon led the Purple Knights to a 4-0 win on Saturday, netting
his first goal of the season and following up with two assists. He
is currently tied in first on the team for points.
Alex Mykolenko- Skidmore
Junior, Forward, Kharkov, Ukraine/Northwood School
Scored two goals and had four assists in Skidmore's 2-0 opening
week. Had two goals and an assist in an 8-6 win over
defending East regular-season champion New England College and
three assists in a 6-2 win against St. Anselm.
