GENEVA, N.Y.--Hobart Hockey Helpers will begin an ongoing partnership with Project Eye-to Eye by selling Hobart hockey sweatshirts on campus this week.
Hockey Helpers began selling sweatshirts from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the library on Monday, and will again on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Scandling Center. The sweatshirts will be sold for $50 each and all proceeds will go to Project Eye-to-Eye.
A national mentoring program, Project Eye-to-Eye has a Hobart and William Smith Colleges’ chapter. The program pairs children with learning disabilities or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with college students who share the same challenges. Using an art-based curriculum, individual and group projects guide children to unearth their own potential, in their own way and on their own timetable. Project Eye-to-Eye is designed to build life skills for independence and improve self-esteem through the power of role modeling.
“I’m very excited to begin a partnership with Project Eye-to-Eye,” Hobart head coach Mark Taylor said. “This organization is doing great work here on our campus and in our community. All children deserve the chance to be excited to learn whether it be in an academic or athletic environment, and Project Eye-to-Eye is helping to make that happen.”
“With Hobart Hockey Helpers teaming up with Project Eye-to-Eye, we can further spread out program awareness and encourage community support,” Project Eye-To-Eye Co-Coordinator Molly Troy ’12 said. “Project Eye-to-Eye has been an amazing program in the Geneva School District in the past few years and it’s the support of Hobart Hockey Helpers that will help us make even more of an impact on the lives of Geneva middle school students.”
Hobart Hockey Helpers was established in 2007 by Statesmen defenseman Ryan Adler ’09 to give the hockey team the opportunity to volunteer and give back through service projects in the community.
